As we age, gain or lose weight or following pregnancy the abdominal tissues can become permanently stretched and no amount of exercise or dieting can remove this excess. If this is the case then you may be suitable for an abdominoplasty procedure which tightens the abdominal muscles and tissues of the abdomen. A body-lift procedure is an extended procedure where excess tissue is removed circumferentially to improve the contour of the waist from the front and behind.
Anaesthetic : General Length of stay : Daycase or overnight Length of surgery : 2-3 hours Time off work: 1-2 weeks Return to light exercise : 2-4 weeks
Removal of localised deposits of superficial fat is referred to as body contouring and is carried out using liposuction. Areas commonly treated include flanks, inner and outer thighs, male chest, abdomen and upper arms. Liposuction is very useful for treating specific areas to excess body fat but should not be viewed as an alternative to a weight loss programme.
Anaesthetic : General or local Length of stay : Daycase Length of surgery : 1-2 hours Time off work: 2-5 days Return to light exercise : 2 weeks
Changes in weight can leave an excess amount of skin or fat to the inner thigh area which can become uncomfortable or unsightly. A thigh lift may be appropriate to remove this excess tissue and tighten the skin to the upper thigh - this is carried out via a horizontal or occasionally a vertical scar to the inner thigh.
Patients may also request surgery to reduce or improve the appearance of the calf area. This can be done using liposuction or calf augmentation with implants or your own fat.
Anaesthetic : General Length of stay : Daycase Length of surgery : 1-2 hours Time off work: 2-5 days Return to light exercise : 4 weeks
Brachioplasty is a procedure to tighten the skin of the upper arms which can become loose following weight loss or as we age. Brachioplasty may be combined with liposuction and typically is carried out using an incision placed on the inner aspect of the upper arm.
Anaesthetic : General Length of stay : Daycase Length of surgery : 1-2 hours Time off work: 2-5 days Return to light exercise : 2 weeks
This is a popular request and is best achieved by using your own fat which is removed by liposuction from one area of your body (typically the abdomen, back and flanks) and injected into the buttock area through tiny incisions. The Brazilian butt lift is superior to traditional silicone implants as it allows the waist to be reduced in size at the same time as increasing the size of the buttocks to maximise the effects of buttock augmentation.
Anaesthetic : General Length of stay : Daycase Length of surgery : 2-3 hours Time off work: 2 weeks Return to light exercise : 4 weeks
Surgery to alter the external appearance of the vagina is termed labiaplasty and can involve reduction or enhancement of the labia of the vagina. Labial reduction is carried out by carefully excision and labial augmentation typically involves the injection of your own fat to enhance the appearance.
Anaesthetic : Local or general Length of stay : Daycase Length of surgery : 1-2 hours Time off work: 2-5 days Return to light exercise : 2 weeks
